Your outlaw band faces several challenges as it travels through the Greenwood wilderness, the first of which is to make it through the severe winter. The alternative to not stealing food to feed your people is to watch them starve to death. Along the way, you will need to win over members of various social classes to the cause of the rebels. These social classes include yeomen, helots, merchants, priests, and aristocrats. Be careful, however, for some of them can be your worst adversaries. Your ability to win their allegiance will be necessary to accomplish your rebellion.
Your uprising is a target for the Archon of the Hegemony, who has sent an elite force of wicked blood mages to destroy it. As you participate in battle, you will be confronted with challenging choices and personal betrayals, both of which can potentially jeopardize your movement's entire life. Can you fight these formidable foes and prevent your burgeoning rebel army from disintegrating while it is still in its infancy?
Choice of Rebels: Uprising gives players a wide variety of options for their characters, including the ability to play as either a male or a female with various sexual orientations. You have the option of engaging in combat as a rebellious aristocrat, a defiant slave, or even taking on other roles such as a self-taught magician, a commander, or a mystic priest. You can even choose to fight in one of these roles in addition to others. Each option presents its own distinct set of obstacles and opportunities, such as the possibility of reorganizing the religion practiced by the empire or founding your own. The only way to deliver justice to your people and destroy the blood harvesters used by the Hegemony is to become an expert in the arcane magic of Theurgy.

During the uprising you lead, you will have the chance to discover love among the other rebels fighting alongside you. However, not every relationship can flourish because you will need to find spies and betrayers and put an end to prospective rebellions. Your capacity as a leader will be put to the test as you defend yourself against attempts at assassination, onslaughts of magical might, and even the monstrous hounds of the Plektoi. Your decisions will influence whether people will remember you as a sympathetic idealist or a ruthless revolutionary, and this will depend on the choices that you make.
